Head Teacher's Message

Headteacher Alison White welcomes visitors to Fairway and describes the school as a vibrant, thriving community where every child is encouraged to shine. She highlights strong partnerships with parents, the aims for children to be independent and ambitious learners, and the commitment to creativity, exploration and knowledge within a stimulating curriculum.

Curriculum Highlights

Curriculum underpinned by the Early Years Foundation Stage and the National Curriculum for Years 1–6. Strong focus on English and Mathematics; reading is pivotal with emphasis on decoding, fluency and comprehension. Learning is designed to help children explore new subjects, know key facts and vocabulary, and communicate learning confidently. Inclusion is at the core, with attention to the nine protected characteristics of the Equality Act and British Values. Assessment (formative and summative) informs next steps and progression toward end-of-year and end-of-key-stage expectations. Lessons emphasise collaboration, independent work, questioning, research and clear learning objectives with success criteria.

Admissions Criteria

Fairway Primary School is a maintained primary school. The Published Admission Number (PAN) for Reception is 30. 52 part‑time places may be admitted to Nursery. The school will admit all children with a statement of SEN or an EHCP named for the school. Admissions arrangements are in line with Stockport Local Authority guidance and the local online admissions process is used. A place in the Nursery does not guarantee a place in the Reception class. Applications for Nursery, Reception and secondary entry are online by the stated deadlines.
