Headteacher Mrs D. Mitchell states it is a privilege to lead Crossgates, a happy, nurturing and successful school with a strong sense of community. The school aims to provide the best possible educational opportunities and a rich, exciting curriculum, and invites families to visit and view the school in action.
The school is fully committed to supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) so that they can reach their full potential and enjoy school life. SEND provision is led by the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) Mrs McMahon, who works with staff, families and external agencies to make sure that all children are given the opportunity to succeed in a nurturing and inclusive environment. This includes adapted classroom teaching, small group or individual support, use of specialist resources or strategies, and support from outside professionals such as speech and language therapists, educational psychologists and health services. The school works closely with families to ensure understanding of needs and regular review of support, with children encouraged to share their views and take an active role in learning.
