The school uses a graduated approach to meeting SEND needs. The majority of needs are met in class through differentiation and teaching assistant support. If additional support is needed, interventions are provided in small groups or one-to-one and may involve external agencies (educational psychologists, CAMHS, Rochdale Additional Needs Service, Speech and Language Therapy, hearing impairment services). Some children may be referred for an Education Health Care Plan (EHCP) through the Local Authority. If substantial support is required, the school may apply for top-up funding. The SENCo is Mrs Percival and the school follows an ASSESS – PLAN – DO – REVIEW cycle. Parents are welcome to discuss concerns with teachers or the SENCo; health care plans are created for medical needs in consultation with the school nurse.
School meals are £2.75 per meal (£13.00 per week) and Nursery meals are £1.70. From 1 April 2025, the price of school meals will be £2.85 per meal (£14.25 per week). Universal Free School Meals are available for all Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 children. Free School Meal Entitlement applications must be completed online via Rochdale Council.
