Curriculum Highlights

Read Write Inc (RWI) used from Nursery to Year 6 for teaching reading and spelling, with a Comprehension Programme in KS2 and an Accelerated Reader Programme for reading independence. Power Maths (White Rose) scheme for maths, with NCETM Mastering Number in Reception and Key Stages 1 and 4-5 to develop number fluency. Times Tables Rock Stars (TTRS) accounts for all Year 1 pupils to build multiplication fluency, with a weekly Times Table Award. Spanish taught using Language Angels, with two cycles to include split classes in Key Stage two; vocabulary and communicative skills taught through varied activities. Reading for pleasure emphasised with a home reader scheme, 2 indoor and 2 outdoor libraries, and volunteer readers; guided reading and reading across the curriculum. Music taught using Charanga; Year 3-4 ukulele; Year 5-6 samba drums or steel pans; choir in two year groups. Design Technology taught with strands: Structures; Mechanisms; Textiles; Food technology and Healthy Eating; Electrical/Digital Systems in KS2. Art uses a structured cycle across topics; linked vocabulary; progression of skills. Computing taught via NCCE Teach Computing scheme, with online safety modules from Project Evolve. Physical Education follows Val Sabin schemes for Gymnastics and Dance; swimming in Year 4; outdoor activity in upper KS2; and a focus on healthy living. Reading provision includes shared reading, guided reading, and a School Readers Organisation with a focus on reading for pleasure; two libraries, book rewards and a home reading system.

Wraparound Care

Breakfast Club: Yes After-School Care: Yes

Breakfast Club runs daily 7.30 - 8.50 am in the Sports Hall and is managed and staffed by Baguley Hall School staff. It costs £2.30 with breakfast. Breakfast club places are available for children from Nursery to Year 6 and children are escorted to their classrooms for the start of the school day. Bookings must be made and paid in advance via the School Spider app; places are reserved on receipt of payment and children cannot attend if not pre-booked.
