SEND Provision

Alma Park has a Deaf and Hearing Needs resource provision for Nursery to Year 6. The Resource Base has three discrete teaching areas and can accommodate up to 12 pupils. The provision offers tailored communication support (BSL, Sign Supported English, and spoken English), uses language development profiles, and includes Soundfield systems in classrooms. The team includes three qualified Teachers of the Deaf and several Specialist Teaching Assistants. Cochlear implants and hearing aids are checked daily, and a collaboration with external professionals (Educational Psychologists, Speech & Language Therapists, Deaf CAMHS, etc.) is available.

Admissions Criteria

Admissions are managed by Manchester City Council. If there are more applications than places, priority is given in the following order: Category 1 — children who are, or have been, looked after by a local authority; Category 2 — children with exceptional medical or social needs, or a disabled parent; Category 3 — children with a sibling at the school; Category 4 — all other children.
