Ethos & Values

"Where Children Matter"

A place of safety and comfort for each child to reach their potential. Our School is big enough to cope with the demands of the modern school day and all the rules and regulations that make your children safe. Our school is small enough to care for every pupil we teach. Small classes and great teaching make for an excellent education. We are committed to providing a learning environment to suit our children.

The school will be inclusive, will meet the individual needs of all learners and will be based on the tenets and beliefs of all faiths.

SEND Provision

The admission and review of students with an EHCP or a statement of special educational needs is dealt with by a completely separate procedure involving parents, schools, the LA and a range of professionals. Details of this separate procedure are set out in the Special Educational Needs Code of Practice. We consider all children for admission to the school who have the ability and aptitude to access an academic curriculum. Pupils whose SEND are suited to the curriculum are welcome provided that we have the appropriate resources and facilities to offer them the support they require. The School will arrange special early admissions meetings with parents of disabled prospective pupils to discuss special arrangements. Before a place is offered at the School We ask parents and guardians that they disclose to the School any known or suspected circumstances relating to their child’s health, development, allergies and learning difficulties. Based on such disclosure, the School will confirm whether or not it can fully meet the needs of the child. Where a child’s SEND is identified, or develops, after the child has started at the School, we will endeavour to continue support the child as long as we have the appropriate resources and facilities to provide them with the support they require, we believe it is in the best interest of the child and of the School community for them to remain at Lord’s School. Where, in our judgement, any of these conditions no longer apply, we reserve the right to withdraw a place at the School. In such circumstances, we will use our reasonable endeavours to support parents in finding alternative arrangements. The class teacher and/or classroom assistant supports the individual child. Each staff is specialised in their respective subjects. We provide a range of opportunities for children to engage in speaking and listening activities in English with peers and adults. Differentiation of texts and materials that suit the child’s age is used to encourage learning. Support is also provided through ICT and audio materials. Lord’s will look to train or find courses for the teachers to attend, in order to help with the inclusion of any child in the School. The training will either be internal or external depending on the needs of the child. We also work with the Local Authorities to ensure individual Support Staff are provided for those that require it. Once registered your data will be held in accordance with the GDPR privacy notice.

Admissions Criteria

Lord’s School offers the potential of a continual learning experience from primary to GCSE level. However, pupils can join us at various levels. This admissions policy reinforces the educational vision upon which Lord’s School has been established. The school will be inclusive, will meet the individual needs of all learners and will be based on the tenets and beliefs of all faiths. It will, through its admissions, promote understanding among students, parents and guardians. Application: Once your application is made, children, parents and guardians will generally be invited to attend the school for a meeting with the head teacher and a tour of the school. Special Educational Needs: The admission and review of students with an EHCP or a statement of special educational needs is dealt with by a completely separate procedure... Before a place is offered at the School we ask parents and guardians that they disclose to the School any known or suspected circumstances relating to their child’s health, development, allergies and learning difficulties.
