Bolton School offers bursaries and scholarships to support access, including Open Door Bursary Fund, George Lancashire Bursary, Leverhulme Centenary Scholarships, and Elite Athlete Programme scholarships. Bursaries are means-tested based on income; scholarships are merit-based and may be awarded based on Entrance Examination performance and interviews; there are also instrumental awards.
Entrance examinations are held in January; admissions decisions take into account examination results, the pupil’s school report, the Headteacher’s reference, and the information provided in the application form. If a pupil has a diagnosed disability or special educational needs, the school should be informed so that special arrangements can be considered for the examination.
