From January 2026, both breakfast and afterschool wraparound care will be provided by FootyFun 4 Kids. Breakfast Club runs from 7:45am to 8:45am (breakfast provided from 7:45am) with early drop-off at 7:15am available for £3. Afterschool care runs from 3:15pm with options from 4:15pm to 5:15pm (£7.50), 3:15pm to 4:15pm (£7.50), 3:15pm to 5:15pm (£14.50), and 3:15pm to 6:15pm (£19.50). Late pick up at 6:45pm adds £3. A snack is provided between 3:15pm and 4:15pm and a meal is provided if staying until 5:15pm or later.
The Russell School is a multicultural primary school for children aged 3 to 11. SEND provision is managed by two staff – the Inclusion Lead (Ms Clarke) and the SENCo (Mrs McCann). Staff training is provided and partnership with Strathmore School is used for access to additional expertise. Class Teachers plan lessons to meet individual needs, and there are three waves of SEND support: Wave One (Quality First Teaching), Wave Two (additional group work), Wave Three (targeted, more individual support with a SEND Support Plan). The school uses Assess, Plan, Do and Review cycles, and may involve outside professionals (Speech and Language Therapist, Educational Psychologist, CAMHs, School Nurse, Occupational Therapist, MHST, EISS, EAIP, Trainee Play Therapists). If needed, an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) can be pursued. Regular monitoring includes termly pupil progress meetings, SEND reviews, and annual EHCP reviews. Parents are involved in meetings and annual reviews, and there is a SEND Governor and Inclusion Governor.
The Russell School is a multicultural primary school for 3–11 year olds. It admits 30 children into the Reception Class and 26 into the Nursery. Reception places are allocated through the Local Authority’s Primary School Admissions Policy, with expressions of preference submitted via the Local Authority’s Common Application Form. In-year admissions are possible using an In Year Application Form. For September 2025, 30 places were being admitted. If oversubscribed, priority is given according to the Local Authority’s Admissions Policy.
