St Matthew's is a Voluntary Aided Church of England School. This means that it is a part of the Christian Family of the Diocese of London, and receives support and resources from the London Diocesan Board of Schools, in addition to the support and resources that it receives from the Local Education Authority. The parish priests are often in school for assemblies and for sharing in Religious Education, and the school is often in Church, for worship and for learning experiences.
St Matthew’s is a small one form entry Church of England primary school of 210 children located in Ponders End, Enfield. We are passionate about achieving the best for our children and endeavour to create a safe and happy place for them to learn in. Our Staff and Governors are devoted to raising standards and ensuring that each child's education is fulfilled to its maximum. (Headteacher message from Rebecca Harris)

Sports
Breakfast Club runs from 7.30am till the start of the school day. Once the registration form is completed, this can be used on an "as and when" basis. All children attending will receive breakfast (toast, cereal, crumpets, muffin etc). The cost of this is £2 per day and is paid using ParentPay. We also have an After School Club which runs from the end of the school day up until 6pm. Again, once the registration form is completed this service can be used on a regular basis or whenever it is needed. Children attending receive a snack (noodles, fish fingers, hot dog etc), a piece of fruit and a drink. The cost of this is £7 per day and is paid in advance using ParentPay.
The Government believes that the Pupil Premium, which is additional to main school funding, is the best way to address the current underlying inequalities between children eligible for free school meals and their peers by ensuring that funding to tackle disadvantage reaches the pupils who need it most. The Pupil Premium was introduced in April 2011 and is allocated to schools who work with pupils who have been registered for free school meals at any point during the last six years (known as 'Ever 6 FSM'). Schools also receive funding for children who have been looked after continuously for more than six months, and children of service personnel.
