Curriculum Highlights

The curriculum is taught in line with the National Curriculum. We believe that our pupils are entitled to a rich, varied and diverse curriculum which will enable them to learn and make connections using concrete, pictorial and abstract approaches to learning. We believe that all pupils, irrespective of background, world experiences or economic status, should be provided with a rich curriculum which is delivered confidently, preparing them for life and future employment. Our curriculum aims to be engaging and inspiring which incorporates a memorable experience, normally an educational visit, and uses Opening Worlds in Key Stage 2 to develop children's subject knowledge in History, Geography and Religious Education. Pupils are taught to read fluently by accessing texts to read widely and deeply, in order to develop their fluency and understanding, with Read Write Inc phonics from Reception through Year 2 and related home resources (Oxford Owl). Donnington’s Five Bs underpin everything that we do: Be kind, Be honest, Be respectful, Be responsible, Be the best you can!
