"Embedding Excellence"
Barham is a Rights Respecting School and is working towards UNICEF RRSA Level 2. The school has RRSA Ambassadors and an RRSA Steering Group, and it has previously achieved RRSA Recognition of Commitment (ROC) in 2015 and Level 1 status in 2017; the RRSA framework centers on the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and promotes rights and respect in school life.
In order for our children to feel safe, be happy then learn, all staff, by striving to embed excellence endeavour to fully prepare pupils for the next stage in their education and adulthood and are trained well so that they have the skills to develop every aspect of pupils’ development. (Karen Giles, Barham Primary School Head Teacher)
Clubs
SEND information is provided by the school: SENCo is Ms Nyasha Brackett-Thomas, who coordinates SEND support and interventions; an open door policy and home–school link book are used; meetings with the SENCo are held as needed; statements/EHC plans involve more formal annual reviews and written reports; if a child is not making progress, the school will discuss with parents and may refer for outside professional support; if progress remains limited despite SEND provisions including external advice, the Local Authority may undertake an EIA assessment; quality first teaching is emphasized as the foundation of support.
From September, all parents/carers must contact Brent Council to apply for a school place. Brent Council will liaise with applicants and inform them of the outcome; online applications are encouraged at brent.gov.uk/admissions; Brent School Admissions can be contacted at 0208 937 3110 for an application pack. Nursery applications are made directly to Barham and forms are available from the School Office from October 2025 with a deadline of 15 January 2026; admission to Nursery does not guarantee a full-time place and a separate Reception application to Brent Council is required. For Year 6 entrants applying for secondary school, applications are requested between 1 September and 31 October 2025. Reception 2026 applications for children who attend Barham Nursery (Sept 2025) must be submitted by 15 January 2026. There is no automatic transfer from nursery to reception. Oversubscription criteria for 2026 are published as a document. Admission arrangements for pupils with disabilities note building access (ramps and lift) and related considerations.
