Emanuel School is an independent co-educational day school with a Christian ethos. It was founded in 1594 by Lady Dacre as an Anglican Christian foundation; the school has a chaplain, chapel services, and promotes equality and diversity; the chaplain is licensed by the Bishop of Southwark.
We are a warm, ambitious and forward-looking school where pupils are encouraged to aim high, support one another and make a meaningful contribution to the world around them.
Sports
Three entry points: Year 6 (10+), Year 7 (11+), and Sixth Form (16+). Registration for all entry points closes in October of the year before entry. Applicants must submit their last full school year report and a reference from their current headteacher; applicants sit entrance exams in Maths, English and verbal reasoning; following the written assessments, interviews with a high percentage of applicants and a group experience are conducted, designed to assess creative skills and ability to work in a small team.
For the academic year beginning in September 2025 fees are £8,263 per term excluding VAT. A deposit of one term’s fees is payable on acceptance of a place. This is paid in four instalments. The first instalment of £3,000 will be payable in December for sixth form entry the following September, or in March for year 6 and year 7 entry the following September, with the remaining three payments being payable in June, July and August. This deposit will be held by the school as part of the school’s general fund. The deposit will be refunded to you when your child leaves the school, provided that the child completes at least one term at Emanuel, and will be repaid without interest and less any monies which may be outstanding at the time (e.g. books which have not been returned at the time of preparing the final account). Please note that the first part of the deposit will not be refunded if your child does not take up the offered place at Emanuel. Supplementary charges include items such as external examination fees and for optional items such as school trips and expeditions, the Portcullis magazine and membership of the Emanuel Parents’ Association.
