Religious Education is the core of the core curriculum. It permeates throughout our whole curriculum and all other aspects of school life. At St Thomas' we dedicate 10% of teaching time to the teaching of Religious Education as required by the Bishops of England and Wales. Planning Cycle: 25-26. Assessment Levels of Attainment are used to assess KS1 and KS2. EYFS Stages. As we begin to implement the new RED, our assessment procedures will be reviewed.
St Thomas of Canterbury is a Catholic school led by Headteacher Miss Breslin. The school emphasises Jesus at the heart of all learning, a welcoming and diverse community, and aims to develop the “whole child” with staff who know every child and family well.

Extended Day Sir John Lillie Primary School Play Centre provides a 'Walking Bus' which collects our children at 3.15pm and takes them to their wrap around club. This club runs until 6.30pm.
St Thomas of Canterbury Catholic Primary School uses a 3-tiered approach to supporting a child’s learning: Universal (quality first teaching), Targeted (additional short-term interventions), Specialist (longer-term support with external services). Current interventions include reading, writing, spelling and maths intervention programmes; Phonics catch-up; Speech and Language therapy; Occupational therapy; Mentoring; Specified Individual support (often via a Statement of SEN or an EHCP). The SENCo (Mrs Fagan) works with staff; EHC plans may be reviewed. The school regularly reviews its Accessibility Plan to ensure access to the curriculum and site.
