Curriculum Highlights

Curriculum is based on the National Curriculum with a clear progression and spiral learning. Phonics is taught using Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Revised; daily phonics in Reception and Year 1; Keep-up and Rapid Catch-Up sessions. Reading is prioritised with three weekly reading practice sessions and a strong emphasis on reading for pleasure and exposure to quality texts. Maths uses a Mastery approach with Concrete-Pictorial-Abstract (CPA) progression and fluency in key number facts. Religious Education follows the Southwark Diocesan Board of Education primary syllabus with three interlinking elements: Believing, Thinking and Living; aims to develop religious literacy and respect for different beliefs. Computing uses Purple Mash and emphasises online safety. Spanish is taught as the Modern Foreign Language in Key Stage 2. Science emphasises enquiry and investigations with cross-curricular links. Art, Design Technology, Music, History, Geography, PE and a broad range of enrichment activities support a well-rounded curriculum. Physical Education uses the PE Passport for planning, assessment and tracking; school offers extra-curricular sports and inter/intra school competitions.
