Curriculum Highlights

Latin is taught as the Modern Foreign Language (Latin) for all Key Stage 2 pupils. The Latin Programme gives Year 6 pupils the opportunity to visit Cambridge University. Art curriculum is supported by Access Art and includes gallery workshops and exhibitions in London. Design Technology uses Kapow's Scheme of Work (Structures, Textiles, Mechanisms, Cooking and Nutrition, etc.). Little Wandle Letters and Sounds (Phonics) is used in EYFS and KS1 and Argyle is a Wandle Hub school. Music lessons are taught by a specialist teacher with a rich range of performance opportunities and partnerships (Camden Music Service, Aurora Orchestra, OAE, RAM). The Argyle Choir participates in Camden Music Festival and other performances. Science includes practical investigations and visits to places such as the Royal Institute of Science, Chelsea Physic Garden, Natural History Museum and Science Museum. Geography and History use Big Questions and fieldwork/visits to local and national sites to develop skills. PSHEC follows Camden Health and Wellbeing programmes with focus on relationships, wellbeing, online safety, diversity and citizenship. Online Safety is taught as part of the curriculum with annual e-safety workshops. The curriculum emphasizes oracy and explicit vocabulary development across subjects. Foundation Stage outdoor learning and early years’ phonic and number work are integrated into daily practice. Outdoor learning and cross-curricular links are emphasised throughout the curriculum. The curriculum includes opportunities for children to read widely, be read to, and engage in visits to galleries and museums.

Admissions Criteria

Argyle follows Camden Criteria for all admissions. In oversubscription, places are offered in the following order: looked-after children; children with a sibling at the school who will still be on roll; children with an exceptional medical or social need for a place at the school; children whose parent is a qualified teacher at the school or who has been recruited to fill a vacancy; other children with priority given to those living closest to the school
