What Counts as EBacc Humanities

Students can fulfil the humanities requirement through: - Geography: Physical and human geography - History: British and world history

Students need to achieve grade 5+ in at least one of these subjects.

Why Humanities Matter

Strong humanities outcomes: - Develop critical thinking and analytical skills - Build understanding of society and citizenship - Support essay writing and argumentation - Open pathways to social sciences at A-level and university

Interpreting the Data

  • 50%+: Strong humanities provision
  • 30-50%: Typical comprehensive range
  • Below 30%: May indicate limited humanities uptake

Some schools emphasise humanities more than others. Schools with strong humanities often have well-developed essay writing and analytical skills across their student body.
