Curriculum Highlights

KS3 curriculum includes English language, English literature, mathematics, science, PE, religious studies, history, geography and art. Enrichment activities include work experience at KS4, trips, a wide range of extra-curricular clubs including D of E, fundraising, supporting others, mentoring and representing the school. KS3 Maths uses a five-year spiral model (Number, Algebra, Geometry, Statistics/Probability) with progression to GCSE after Year 9; there are Learning Checkpoints with target 50% and 'exceeding' at 80%.

Admissions Criteria

Applications must be made using the Local Authority's Common Application Form (or online via the Local Authority's website). Secondary places must be applied to the Local Authority by 31 October. The Local Authority's School Admissions Team offers places on behalf of South Shore Academy. You must apply to the authority where you live. If oversubscribed, parents have the right of appeal to an independent admission appeal panel. Non-routine admissions may apply; common application form with up to three preferences.
