Head Teacher's Message

Headteacher Miss S. Milewski describes Valley as a vibrant, happy, and successful school with a focus on exciting, purposeful learning, strong partnerships with parents, the use of technology, and a clear aim for pupils to Aspire, Enjoy, Achieve and Challenge.

Curriculum Highlights

The curriculum is organised through a mixture of topic-based learning and stand-alone subjects. Five topics across the year integrating History, Geography, DT and Art. English, Mathematics and Phonics (primarily KS1) are taught in the mornings; in the afternoons the curriculum includes Science, Computing, History, Geography, Art & Design, Design & Technology, P.E., R.E., P.S.H.E., French (MFL) and Music. During EYFS, seven areas are focused on: Personal, Social and Emotional Development; Communication and Language; Physical Development; Literacy; Mathematics; Understanding the World; Expressive Arts and Design. The introduction of a systematic, synthetic phonics scheme commences as soon as Reception starts. The curriculum follows the National Curriculum and includes cross-curricular links; Regular assessment and intervention/specialist support when needed. Dedicated Inclusion Leaders support progress and interventions as part of the school’s approach to inclusion.

Reception intake for September 2026 with admissions information provided by Solihull Admissions; Applications for Reception open Autumn 2025; If your child attends Valley Nursery you still need to apply for a Reception place; Online applications via Solihull for residents; In-Year applications via the Local Authority; Nursery places include 15 hours free (and 30 hours for entitled families); Nursery application closing date was 12 January 2026; Late applications may be accepted if places are available.
