Head Teacher's Message

Welcome message from the Headteacher expressing delight in welcoming families, emphasising a large primary school with high expectations, an ethos of respect, and a drive for children to be the best learners they can be. The school encourages parental and community involvement and aims for a happy, secure, and forward-looking environment with high achievements for all.

Curriculum Highlights

Mastery principles in English and Mathematics (opportunity to embed learning before moving to the next topic). National Curriculum subjects are taught discretely (English, Mathematics, Science, History, Geography, etc.). The Big Ideas curriculum model links topics within and across subjects to build deep understanding. Curriculum is designed to be inclusive and imaginative, engaging learners and preparing them for the modern world. British values are interwoven across the curriculum (democracy, rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect and tolerance). Early Years Foundation Stage (Nursery & Reception) forms part of the full curriculum, with a clear progression to Year 1–6. Literature lies at the heart of the English reading curriculum, with a focus on developing a love for reading and transferable reading skills.

Admissions Criteria

Admissions are coordinated by Salford Local Authority. For Nursery: applications must be received by 15 January and applicants are notified of a place on 16 April. There are up to 60 places in each year group from Reception to Year 6. Admissions criteria (in order of priority) include Looked after children and previously looked after children, Children in need, Medical reasons, Older brother or sister in attendance at the school, and Children living nearest to the school (distance measured straight-line). If the school is oversubscribed, places are allocated to those nearest to the school. Waiting lists are maintained for the statutory period (until 31 December) and fair access protocol takes precedence over waiting lists. There is no automatic transfer from Nursery to Reception. In-year admissions are possible.
