St. Matthew’s Catholic Primary School is part of Bishop Chadwick Catholic Education Trust and has close links with St. Matthew’s Church Parish in Jarrow; pupils attend school Masses in church; the school is part of the Diocese of Hexham and Newcastle and participates in Catholic education within that diocese; RE and Gospel values underpin the curriculum and school life.

Breakfast Club: Yes After-School Care: Yes

St. Matthew’s provides wraparound care for pupils from 7.30am to 5.30pm each day (5pm on Fridays). The Breakfast Club is open to pupils Monday to Friday from 7.30am to 9am. The Teatime Club is open to pupils Monday to Thursday from 3.30pm to 5.30pm and 5pm on Fridays. The cost of each session is £5 per child and £4 per sibling. To book a place, email [email protected] or contact the School Office. In addition to wraparound care, a number of after school clubs are offered each term (e.g., karate, multi-sports, gardening, art, cookery). Wraparound care is available to all pupils from 7.30am to 5.30pm (5pm on Fridays).

Admissions Criteria

An application can be made for a place outside the admission round; in-year admissions are possible where places are available and more applications than places will be subject to the published oversubscription criteria. The Local Governing Committee is the Admissions Authority. If no places are available, the child will be added to the waiting list. Applicants will be advised of the outcome in writing as soon as possible (within 15 school days, aim 10 days). There is a right to appeal to an independent appeal panel.
