Ethos & Values

Courage Compassion Trust

St Andrew's Primary School states a Christian ethos built around the vision 'growing together' with core Christian values of Courage, Compassion and Trust. The Bible reference used is Mark 4:30-32 (the mustard seed parable), and the school is described as a church school with SIAMS involvement; the ethos emphasizes that everyone is valued and cared for and that Christian values guide policy and practice.

Head Teacher's Message

Headteacher Fran Martin welcomes families and emphasizes the school's 'growing together' vision, warm relationships, and a broad, engaging curriculum. The OFSTED inspection in June 2025 awarded the school a 'Good' judgement.

SEND Provision

Universal Provision is provided through high-quality teaching within an inclusive environment; most pupils progress within the Universal Provision without needing additional SEND support. Pupils who require more support may be added to the SEND register. The school operates two nurture hubs, The Nest and The Haven, and uses Learning Partners to support pupils. External agencies (e.g., speech and language therapy, educational psychologist) may be involved. The SENDCo is Katie White.

Admissions Criteria

Admissions are managed by North Somerset Local Authority. The school admits 30 children into a given Key Stage 1 year group. If oversubscribed, the Headteacher is legally obliged to refuse further admissions and parents may appeal to the Local Authority. For September 2026, applications for Reception open on 12 September 2025 and close on 15 January 2026. Year 6 secondary transfer applications are handled through North Somerset School Admissions.
