Curriculum Highlights

EYFS curriculum follows the Early Years Foundation Stage (March 2021) with seven learning and development areas and three prime areas (Communication and Language, Physical Development, Personal, Social and Emotional Development) plus Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World, Expressive Arts and Design, Music and ICT skills. Independent child-led learning and play are important parts of the weekly timetable. In Reception, Baseline Assessments and Wellcomm are used to support language and communication development, with progress recorded in Learning Journeys. Key Stage 1 & 2 follow the National Curriculum with added opportunities for rich and creative activities; focus on transition activities (Year 2 and Year 6) and long-term curriculum plans. Some specialist teaching in French, Music, PE and Swimming; emphasis on making links between learning areas; curriculum is personalised and adapted to pupils' needs. Individual Subject Areas include Art & DT, Computing, Humanities, Mathematics, Modern Foreign Languages, Music, PE & Swimming, PSHEE, RE, Reading, Science, Writing.

Wraparound Care

Breakfast Club: Yes After-School Care: Yes

Breakfast Club runs from 7:30am each school day. After-school care (Q-Plus) is available until 5:30pm for pupils aged 4-11. Nursery wraparound is open from 7:30am to 6:00pm. Morning/afternoon sessions and late pickup arrangements apply. A charge of £30 may be applied for lateness for FFE/after-school care.

Financial Information

Nursery Fees (Academic Year 2025–2026): QEGS Nursery operates 50 weeks per year with 30 hours funded options. If taking the stretched 30 hours offer, attendance is required for two days during half terms and school holidays; if not, attendance is 50 weeks. Range of attendance patterns available: Full Day 8:00-6:00 (5 days, all-inclusive meals) £184.24/week (£767.66/month), Preschool Only 9:00-3:00 (5 days) £65.80/week (£274.16/month), 3 Days 8:00-6:00 £61.74/week (£257.95/month). If paying as you go: Full Day £60.00, Half Day £47.50, per hour £10.00. Free 30 hours funding available (up to 1140 hours per year); extra hours charged as above. The nursery is open 50 weeks; closed for 2 weeks at Christmas and on bank holidays. Charges apply for absences; £120 per week during half-term holidays for two days attendance.
