Steyning Grammar School is a Church of England school within Bohunt Education Trust. The Christian ethos is based on the Fruits of the Holy Spirit and is expressed through collective worship, Christian values, and guidance aimed at flourishing spiritually and academically.

Year 7 admissions are controlled by West Sussex Local Authority. The catchment areas are Chanctonbury Schools (Partridge Green, Henfield, Ashurst, Steyning and Upper Beeding) and STARS Schools (Amberley, Ashington, Storrington, Thakeham, Washington and West Chiltington). The published admission number (PAN) is 210 on the Towers site and 150 for the Rock Road site. From Year 9, up to 15 boarders are admitted with separate admission arrangements.
