Ethos & Values

Kindness Integrity Pride Respectful Responsible Reflective Responsive Resilient Risk Taker

All schools are required by law to teach a broad and balanced curriculum which promotes the spiritual, moral and cultural development of children and prepares them for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of life. Seaham High School’s Prevent Strategy aims to protect children from harm and to ensure that they are taught in a way that is consistent with the law and British Values.

Head Teacher's Message

Headteacher states pride in Seaham High School and highlights OFSTED praise that the school is a place where pupils can be themselves and where tolerance and respect are understood. He emphasizes safety, happiness and achievement, and encourages students to be kind, have integrity and be proud of themselves, the school and the wider community.

Curriculum Highlights

Curriculum is broad and balanced across KS3 and KS4 with a strong core (English, Maths, Science, Humanities, Languages) and a range of options. KS4 offers GCSE and Vocational courses and a two-year KS4 model. Nurture Curriculum (Blue pathway) provides a bespoke, literacy- and numeracy-focused programme for the most vulnerable students. Careers education is aligned to Gatsby benchmarks with one-to-one career interviews and a school-wide programme from Year 7 onward. British Values are taught explicitly and reinforced through the curriculum and pastoral provision, including the 6R programme.

SEND Provision

Pupil Premium is a grant of additional funding allocated to schools specifically to support disadvantaged students. Pupil Premium Plus (PP+) is for students who are or have previously been looked after. A full Pupil Premium strategy is available, including the PP Strategy 23-26 and related impact data.

Admissions Criteria

Oversubscription criteria (when there are more requests for places than available): 1) Looked after children or those who were looked after and then adopted or subject to a special guardianship order; 2) Medical reasons directly related to school placement; 3) Looked after outside England or those adopted; 4) Sibling links; 5) Applicants to their nearest school; 6) All other applicants.
