Clubs
Hook Lane Primary School provides SEND provision including an ASD Resource Provision (Captivate Class) with personalised curricula and support. Pupils with SEND are supported across the curriculum by Teaching Assistants 1:1 or small groups, with interventions such as Speech and Language groups, Sensory circuits, occupational therapy supports, and collaboration with external services as appropriate. The provision remains within the mainstream school and does not operate as a separate unit.
Admissions for the ASD Provision (Rec–Y6) are via Local Authority referrals. The pupil must have an EHC plan and a confirmed autism diagnosis with primary autism as the need. English and Maths performance should indicate potential to achieve at least Band 1 by end KS1 and Band 2 in lower KS2. Assessments should indicate a child is within the broadly average range for preschool age, and the child should be able to communicate verbally without full reliance on communication aids, while still possibly needing SALT guidance. The child should be able to spend some time in a mainstream class daily. Siblings are not automatically admitted. Admission will be refused if families disagree with school strategies or if funded places are fully subscribed, or if family uses ABA conflicting with school practice, or if evidence of autism is not clear.
