Headteacher Mrs A Hulton emphasizes Hazel Wood High School as an inclusive and diverse community guided by the values of Respect, Responsibility and Aspiration, prioritising pupil welfare, safety and high-quality education to help every student achieve their potential.
Hazel Wood High School follows a child-centred, inclusive approach with a three-tier inclusion model. Pupils with SEND are educated in the classroom alongside peers with high-quality teaching, with some pupils withdrawn from selected lessons for specialist teaching/intervention. Pupils with an EHCP receive the necessary support as set out in their EHC Plan and have a personalised support programme focused on their specific needs and outcomes. Booster interventions (such as Read, Write, Inc and peer reading) are provided for pupils not on the SEND register. The SENCO is Mrs. R Davison. The school references the Bury Local Offer and Thrive resources as part of its inclusion and safeguarding ecosystem.
Hazel Wood High School requires applicants to be resident in Bury. Applications are ideally made online.
