Head Teacher's Message

Headteacher Mrs Eirian Painter welcomes families, describes Red Oaks as a caring, ambitious school, notes OFSTED’s positive feedback in 2024, and invites visits and inquiries.

Curriculum Highlights

Curriculum is based on the National Curriculum but goes beyond it, with a model that blends essential life skills (problem-solving, creativity, teamwork) with academic foundations. Learning is structured around 'Columns' (core skills like critical thinking, collaboration, creativity) and 'Spirals' (revisiting key ideas over time). From Nursery to Year 6, curriculum is age-appropriate and progression maps guide what, why and how learning happens. Adaptive teaching via inclusive practices and the TEEP teaching cycle; progression tracking and feedback guide next steps. Assessment uses a clear approach to progress tracking (working towards, meeting, beyond) and captures progress through varied methods (written work, projects, photos, videos, discussions). Subject leaders monitor assessment data and drive curriculum improvement; Mrs Jacques is the overall curriculum lead.
