Curriculum Highlights

EYFS follows the 2021 statutory framework with Development Matters guidance; end-of-Foundation-Stage assessment against Early Learning Goals; GLD (Good Level of Development) earned only if expected in all PRIME and SPECIFIC areas. Nursery and Reception use a broad, balanced curriculum with a thematic approach; play-based learning; indoor and outdoor learning; a mix of child-initiated and teacher-led activities. Curriculum aims to develop literacy, numeracy and articulation.

Wraparound Care

Breakfast Club: Yes After-School Care: Yes

Breakfast Club runs 7:30am–8:30am; After School Club runs 3:00pm–6:00pm (Mon-Thu) and 1:30pm–4:30pm Friday; term-time only. Booking and payments are via ParentPay. Four weeks’ notice is required to cancel or change bookings.

Admissions Criteria

Oversubscription criteria: 1) Looked After Children or previously Looked After Children; 2) Siblings attending Abbey Meads at the time of admission; 3) Children living within the school’s catchment area; 4) Children not living in the catchment area. Priority is given by straight-line distance from home to the school; if distances are equal, places are allocated by random allocation. In-year admissions follow the same criteria. Multiple births may be admitted beyond PAN. Looked After/SEN provisions apply as described in the policy.
