Wisdom Optimism Resilience Kindness Service

The Minster School is a Church of England Academy with close links to Southwell Minster, the cathedral church for the Diocese of Southwell and Nottingham. There are regular Acts of Worship led by the school Chaplain, and the school has an ecumenical chaplaincy team. The Cathedral is used for End of Term services, and the school continues its heritage as the choir school for the cathedral; spirituality and worship are integrated into the curriculum with themes linked to the school vision and Christian virtues.

Welcome from Head Teacher Mr Benjamin Chaloner: The Minster School combines tradition with a contemporary education, upholds the motto “Succeeding Together,” and aims to provide excellent learning academically and in moral/personal development; the school maintains strong Cathedral links and partnerships with MITRE to support high-quality education.

The Minster School curriculum is designed to be inclusive so that all students can access it, with a strong focus on SEND; lessons and activities are designed around inclusion and adapted to meet the needs of individual learners where needed.

Admissions Criteria

The Minster School is a Church of England Academy and MITRE acts as the admissions authority for all its member schools. 55 places are reserved for children who regularly worship as part of a Church of England congregation. Admissions follow the Nottinghamshire County Council Co-ordinated Admissions Scheme; main applications are via the Local Authority; in-year admissions are direct to the school; there are supplementary forms for faith-based places; there is an appeals process and a waiting list.
