Empathy Honesty Respect Responsibility

Trinity Academy Cathedral is Wakefield’s only Church of England secondary school with a distinctive Christian ethos; it has strong links with churches across Wakefield, in particular Wakefield Cathedral, and its vision is rooted in the Bible. The academy emphasises four Christian values of empathy, honesty, respect and responsibility, and includes acts of worship and reflection as part of academy life.

Executive Principal Rob Marsh and Principal Anna Gillinder describe Trinity Academy Cathedral as Wakefield’s only Church of England secondary school with outstanding Ofsted ratings and a strong focus on academics, pastoral care and the school motto ‘Everything is possible’.

Curriculum Highlights

CAPA Juniors – an arts-focused alternative curriculum pathway Broad and knowledge-rich curriculum aimed at high GCSE and BTEC outcomes

Admissions Criteria

Admits 210 students per year into Year 7. Admissions are awarded strictly in line with the academy’s Admissions Policy. Wakefield residents apply via Wakefield Council’s online secondary school admissions system; CAPA Juniors applicants must submit a CAPA Juniors Supplementary Information Form. CAPA Juniors auditions apply for CAPA pathway. Open Evening in September. Calendar for Admission outlines deadlines. Admissions Policy 2026-27 and related documents are available on the site.
