Curriculum Highlights

Spoken language is a key focus throughout the curriculum, including Paired Talk and Helicopter Stories to develop speaking and literacy. Read Write Inc phonics is taught daily in EYFS/KS1 with ability-grouping; Year 2 and above use continued phonics for some pupils and Active Reading with the Accelerated Reader program. Drop Everything and Read: a 15-minute daily reading session in every class. Knowledge Harvests and the 'Knowing more, remembering more' approach to build long-term memory and link learning across years. Handwriting is taught using the Letter Join scheme across all year groups. Mathematics is taught with a mastery approach, emphasising fluency and reasoning. Science is taught through practical investigations and aims to develop enquiry and 'work scientifically' skills.
