Head Teacher's Message

Headteacher Britta Nicholls introduces Stuart Road as a safe, stimulating and inspiring environment, emphasising commitment to high-quality education, safety, and community, with over 20 years of teaching experience and leadership since 2021/2023, and invites tours of the school.

Curriculum Highlights

Read Write Inc phonics in Reception through Year 2 with daily sessions, continuing until pupils are fluent readers and move on to Accelerated Reader. Topic-based learning launched with a quality text each half term, including experiences such as an Ancient Egyptian workshop and the Explorer Dome to explore space. SMSC (Social Moral, Spiritual & Cultural), PSHE (Personal, Social, Health Education) and FBV (Fundamental British Values) are actively taught; Maths uses a mastery approach; Knowledge Organisers are provided to children and parents at the start of each topic; regular, accurate feedback to address misconceptions.

SEND Provision

Stuart Road Primary Academy provides SEND support with universal, targeted and specialist strategies to overcome barriers to learning. All children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) are welcome and full support will be provided to each child with SEND requirements. The school uses universal, targeted and specialist strategies to support children following a graduated approach, with a personalised approach and emphasis on training and developing teachers and teaching assistants to be effective SEND practitioners.
