Ethos & Values

"With God’s strength, we reach for the stars"

There is something extraordinary and wondrous in everybody as unique creations of God We value all our children as children of God We celebrate difference and diversity within a safe, encouraging Christian school environment in which all flourish All will aspire with God’s strength to reach for the stars I can do all things through him who strengthens me. (Philippians 4:13) Provide a Christian community where there are strong caring relationships built on moral values and mutual respect Seek every opportunity that our school offers to flourish and reach for the stars Value collective worship and times for personal reflection Develop religious literacy through quality RE Show endeavour, perseverance and resilience that prepares them to face the challenges of school and the wider world Take pride in themselves and the work that they do Respect themselves and others, recognising that we are all unique creations of God Love one another as Jesus loves us Maintain high expectations of the children and ourselves and remain sensitive and respectful to the community with its cultural diversity Aim to equip all of our children with the knowledge, skills and values they will need to become responsible citizens within their local, national and global communities

St Mary’s is a highly successful multicultural Church of England school where Christian principles and values are woven through and underpin all that we are and do. The teaching of our Christian faith values - with an emphasis on Jesus's teaching to 'love one another as I have loved you' (John 13:34) - is central to our warm, calm and welcoming environment.
