Head Teacher's Message

Headteacher Mr Phil Rawlings welcomes families; Netherbrook is described as a happy and caring school with a focus on pupils' personal, social and emotional development. The school emphasizes strong partnerships with parents, a broad range of learning experiences (Forest School, Kingswood residential trip for Year 6, choir, drama, dance, and school productions) and invites visitors to come and see the school.

Curriculum Highlights

Forest School is used across the school to teach Science through first-hand experiences (Plants, Animals including humans, Living Things and Habitats). Green Citizens and Green Systems are embedded as sustainability themes across Science, Geography and PSHE, with support from Eco Ambassadors. Green Citizens and Green Systems are central themes underpinning the curriculum. Reading development is prioritised in Key Stage 1 using Rocket Phonics and VIPERS. A broad and balanced curriculum underpinning by 'Golden Threads' to develop confident, independent learners with meaningful skills. Performing arts are highly valued, with locally recognised choirs and dance troupes and school productions. A wide range of trips and visits, plus many lunchtime and after-school clubs; Inspire afternoons encourage parental involvement.

SEND Provision

Netherbrook has a dedicated SEN Team (ages 2–11) consisting of: Mrs Reeve (Assistant Head; SENCO; SMHL), Mrs Marshall (Assistant Head; EYFS Leader; Green Curriculum Lead), Mrs Dixon (SENCO Assistant; Speech & Language Lead). The team identifies and monitors pupils on the SEND Register and works with external agencies (CAMHS, CAS, CIPS, Educational Psychology, Hearing Impairment Services, Learning Support Services, Occupational Therapy, Reflexions, School Nurse Services, Speech and Language Therapy, Visual Impairment Services). Local support includes the Dudley Local Offer and SENDIASS; a SEND Information Hub is available via Padlet; access to a Family Support/Attendance Officer (Mrs Pugh) for referrals and discussions with parents.
