Curriculum Highlights

The curriculum follows the National Curriculum—core and foundation subjects, RSHE (PSHE), RE, and UNICEF Rights Respecting School aims, plus a range of extra-curricular activities. Phonics is taught using a Systematic Synthetic Phonics programme. English and Maths are given high status within the curriculum; subject leaders champion learning across subjects. The curriculum is designed to be coherent and progression-focused with long-term and medium-term plans; knowledge and skills build year by year and across federation. Learning uses cross-curricular approaches with reading, writing, communication and maths integrated as appropriate; regular retrieval and memory strategies are employed. The Thrive approach was implemented from 2023-2024 to support wellbeing and learning. Lessons are planned collaboratively across year groups; ongoing CPD, planning and teacher collaboration support high-quality teaching.
