Head Teacher's Message

Headteacher Mrs Hardie welcomes you to Twydall Primary School and Nursery. The school is part of Rainham Mark Education Trust (RMET) and was judged Good by Ofsted in May 2023. The message emphasizes a welcoming, inclusive community, opportunities to learn outside the classroom, and a curriculum designed to build curiosity, knowledge and skills while embedding the school’s VALUES.

Curriculum Highlights

Follow the National Curriculum for KS1 and KS2 and the EYFS curriculum. The curriculum is taught creatively through themed topics with cross-curricular links and experiences such as visits. Big Bangs at the start of each term to excite pupils’ curiosity. Therapeutic and wellbeing elements including sessions with a school dog, Lego therapy and ELSA. Development of articulacy and vocabulary through strategies like Magpie walls and subject-specific vocabulary; use of NELI in EYFS and SALT for additional support. Leadership opportunities through School Parliament and involvement in community projects; emphasis on inclusion and equality across the curriculum. Promotion of British values and citizenship through PSHE and RE; trauma-informed practices and inclusive approach.

SEND Provision

Specialist Resource Provision for children with Physical Disabilities (PD): long-established provision for PD/medical needs, with trained staff who can modify and adapt teaching materials, provide physiotherapy and occupational therapy sessions, use specialist equipment, and support a range of complex medical needs. Children in the PD provision are fully included in mainstream classrooms with adaptations made within the classroom setting; facilities include specially adapted personal care facilities, a sensory room and a physiotherapy (soft play) space with a wide range of specialist equipment, including hoists.
