Head Teacher's Message

Whittle Academy is a vibrant, happy school with a family feel. The aim is to inspire a love of learning in a safe, nurturing environment, develop resilience and independence, and prepare children to be well-rounded adults. The curriculum is engaging and locally focused, and Ofsted praised it in February 2024.

Curriculum Highlights

Bespoke curriculum tailored for Coventry and Warwickshire that provides contextualised knowledge and skills across a broad, balanced range of subjects. Curriculum designed to be exciting, ambitious, relevant and memorable, with a strong emphasis on reading and oracy, explicit vocabulary instruction, and regular knowledge checks. Curriculum promotes spiritual, moral, social and cultural development and includes daily opportunities for development across these areas.

Wraparound Care

After-School Care: Yes

Wraparound offers morning and after-school care. Morning session: 7:30 to 8:40am at £4 per child. Afternoon session: 3:15 to 5:30pm at £3.50 per hour. Breakfast before school includes toast, cereals and a drink; after school includes a snack and a drink. Booking is required due to hygiene regulations. SEND Provision

Enhanced Resource Provision (ERP) is an initiative commissioned by Coventry City Council for September 2023. Ten children with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) have a place in ERP, with support from the Complex Communications Team and a Speech Therapist. The ERP is led by a lead teacher (Mrs Edwards) and four Teaching Assistants. ERP pupils remain part of the Whittle school community.

Whittle Academy follows the Local Authority’s admissions criteria. All applications from Reception to Year 6 are processed through Coventry City Council. An Admissions Policy is available, and the Coventry City Council website should be consulted for further information.
