SBL Academy is an oversubscribed 11-18 co-educational school, part of the Futura Learning Partnership, aiming to provide exceptional education with high expectations for attendance, behaviour and achievement; staff deliver inspirational teaching and strong pastoral care through a house system.

Curriculum Highlights

Curriculum is designed to be broad and balanced and supports progression to Post-16 education and careers. Curriculum encourages British values, democracy and the rule of law. KS3-4 structure with academic EBacc-focused and vocational pathways. KS4 typically includes nine GCSE qualifications or equivalent over two years; some subjects offered at Level 3 in Sixth Form. Languages taught: French and Spanish in Years 7-9, GCSE in Year 11. Design & Technology focused on food, textiles, resistant materials and control technology in KS3. English Language & Literature taught in Years 10-11; GCSE Science starts in Year 10; triple science option. Extensive extra-curricular programme including educational visits, sports, drama, music and community involvement. Care, advice and guidance programme, assemblies, and KS3- KS4 transition support.
