SEND Provision

The Hurlingham Academy provides a wide range of SEND provisions including EAL Access Group and EAL Academic Language Group, Fresh Start Phonics, Speech, Language and Communication interventions, handwriting support, in-class support by Learning Support Assistants, Additional Educational Needs Homework Club, Special Exam Access Arrangements (e.g., 25% extra time, reader, scribe, etc.), Franklin Scholars mentoring, Academic and Pastoral Mentoring, Circle of Friends, Wellbeing groups including SEAL, counselling through the Tavistock and Portman Foundation (one day per week), and CAMHS referrals when needed. The school uses a graduated approach (assess, plan, do, review) to monitor progress and ensure appropriate interventions, with ongoing liaison between the SENCo, tutors, and families.
