Ethos & Values

"True education enables us to love life and opens us to the fullness of life."

Gospel values Catholic virtues

We have a very strong link exists between the School and the Parish of Our Lady and All Saints Church in Stourbridge with our Parish Priest, Father Philip.

Head Teacher's Message

As Principal, I am delighted to welcome you to St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, Stourbridge. We are a happy, caring and successful school with a strong Catholic ethos, where Christ is at the centre of education and we aim to demonstrate care, compassion, justice and integrity.

Curriculum Highlights

Religious Education Spiritual, moral, vocation, social and cultural education Relationship Education - including teaching the children about healthy relationships Health (emotional and psychological) and safety education and personal development. This includes educating the children about behaviour and safety offline and online (KCSIE 2024) Arrangements to meet the requirements of pupil premium learners, those with special educational needs and disabilities and those who are gifted and talented English, maths and science (Core subjects including RE) Foundation subjects: History, Geography, IT, D&T, Art, Music, MFL (KS2) and PE

SEND Provision

ELSA provides emotional support to pupils. Referrals are usually made by the class teacher, senior leaders or SENDCo and typically target a 6–8 week period. Each session lasts approximately 30–40 minutes, once a week, and may be delivered 1‑to‑1 or in groups; the aim is to remove barriers to learning and help pupils manage emotions, not to “fix” problems, by providing a reflective space.

Admissions Criteria

Admissions are managed through Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council. As a Catholic School, families may need to complete a Supplementary Information Form in addition to the standard application. The Local Governing Body adheres strictly to our published admission criteria. In oversubscribed years, oversubscription criteria apply, waiting lists can be used, and applicants are informed in writing (aim to be within 10–15 school days). Appeals can be made to an independent appeal panel.
