Admissions Criteria

Admissions are governed by annexed provisions. Generally a SEN Statement naming the Academy in the statement is required for admission. The Academy Trust may admit a child without a statement for the purposes of an assessment of educational needs under section 323 of the Education Act 1996 with agreement of the local authority, the Academy Trust, the child’s parent and relevant advisers; it may also admit without a statement following a change in circumstances with those parties’ agreement. If a local authority intends to name North View Academy in a statement, the Academy Trust must respond within 15 working days. If a child is named in a statement, the Academy Trust must admit the child even if it believes the name was inappropriate, unless certain conditions apply. If a parent appeals to the First-tier Tribunal regarding the naming of the Academy, the Academy Trust agrees to be bound by the Tribunal’s decision.
