Ethos & Values

"You are the light of the world, a city built on a hill cannot be hidden."

Respect Endeavour Acceptance Courage Honesty

St Mark's is a Church of England Primary Academy where Christian values are central to the life of the school. The school welcomes children from all faith backgrounds and none, and teaches that relationships should be rooted in respect, endeavour, acceptance, courage and honesty. The school verse is You are the light of the world, a city built on a hill cannot be hidden, which guides worship, collective activities and everyday conduct. The RE curriculum is two-thirds Christianity and one-third other world religions, and there are crosses in every classroom, candles to symbolize Jesus as the light of the world, and a liturgical church calendar used in Collective Worship. Prayers are an integral part of worship, and worship is led in various settings including the church and by staff and visiting leaders.
