UTCN offers STEM-focused education with strong industry partnerships, real-world projects, outstanding facilities, and a clear focus on helping students progress to top universities, apprenticeships, or skilled technical careers. The Headteacher invites visits to open events and school tours to explore UTCN’s unique environment.
UTCN is non-selective. For Year 12 admissions, CAT4 testing is used to ensure UTCN admits students from the full spectrum of ability. Oversubscription criteria include: First priority to candidates who meet entry requirements and are looked after or previously looked after; Second priority to UTCN students who meet entry requirements; Third priority based on examination results (ranked by eight best grades, including English and Maths); Fourth priority to higher attainment in Maths and Engineering. If places remain, they are allocated based on other criteria (e.g., siblings outside catchment) with random allocation within bands.
