Welcome from Headteacher Mrs Ruth Nelmes, describing Staverton as a small, nurturing, inclusive church school with strong Christian values, a belief that every child can achieve, and an invitation to get in touch or visit.

Curriculum Highlights

POPPIES – Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS): mixed Nursery and Reception with a play-based, child-led curriculum and emphasis on the three Prime Areas and four Specific Areas. Phonics taught daily to Reception using Read, Write Inc.; Phase 1 (listening, sounds awareness) followed by Phase 2; Nursery children develop pre-reading skills. English: exposure to high-quality texts and opportunities to talk about ideas; emphasis on mark making and early writing. Mathematics: practical number work, linking to interests (e.g., robots, construction) and using White Rose Maths Mastery in Reception. Curriculum delivery includes outdoor/indoor environments; Trekking Tuesday (outdoor learning every Tuesday afternoon) and Leuven scales for wellbeing and involvement. Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE) using Jigsaw; focus on developing relationships, self-esteem and resilience. Observation-informed provision: activities and environments informed by staff observations and assessments to support progress.
