It emphasises a broad, challenging curriculum delivered in a safe, supportive environment, with every student assigned a learning coach to support achievement and character development, including leadership skills and community involvement.
Sybil Andrews Academy provides SEND support through three tiers of Provision: Tier 1 – Quality First Teaching; Tier 2 – SEND Support (emotional SEMH needs, cognition and learning needs, communication and interaction needs, physical and sensory needs); Tier 3 – EHCP support with an evidence trail and possible eligibility for an Education, Health and Care Plan. The SENDCo is Mrs C Bergin. Learning support is provided by a dedicated team in the learning support department, and pupils may have a One Page Plan detailing targets and supports. The Abbey hub provides integrated provision for 18 pupils with EHCPs, delivered by educators with special educational needs experience, and pupils may study a personalised curriculum with access to specialised interventions.
