Head Teacher's Message

Headteacher Mr Iestyn Lewis welcomes families to Smallwood CE Primary Academy, emphasising a team culture, the school’s Christian ethos with God, Church and Faith at the centre, and a commitment to providing opportunities and experiences in a rich learning environment to develop adaptive, creative learners.

Curriculum Highlights

Maths is taught daily using the White Rose scheme with a focus on fluency, reasoning and problem solving; includes place value emphasis and regular retrieval French is taught from EYFS through to Year 6 by a specialist teacher in fortnightly half-hour lessons Reading programme includes Shared Reading and Accelerated Reader with a school expectation of regular reading (at least four times weekly) and reading diaries Forest School sessions are held every other week with an outdoor classroom and dedicated outdoor activities Religious Education follows the Cheshire East syllabus and Understanding Christianity, with opportunities for visits to places of worship; Islam, Christianity and other world religions are included The curriculum is underpinned by the SHINE values: Skills, Hope, Inclusion, Nurture, Excellence
