Head Teacher's Message

Headteacher Chris Doherty describes ALNS as a vibrant, inclusive learning community with the motto 'dare to dream, aim to achieve'. He highlights three values—Inclusivity, Wellbeing, and High Expectations—and emphasizes a safe, respectful environment where students are valued and supported.

Curriculum Highlights

Core curriculum includes English, English Literature, Mathematics and Science (GCSE subjects). Core also includes non-examined elements: Personal Development, Aspiring Futures, and Physical Education. KS4 pathways and subject choices described in Pathway documents and the Which Way Now booklets (Curriculum Choices 24/25).

SEND Provision

The school publishes SEND Policy (Nov 2025 v2) and SEND Information Reports (2025–26). The SENCO is Mr S Fenner, who is also Director of Alternative Provision. Year 7 undertakes baseline literacy and numeracy testing to identify needs; SEND provisions and related contacts are available via the SEND pages.
