Skinners’ School opened in 1887. It currently has around 1,148 pupils with 344 in the Sixth Form. The Headmaster is Edward Wesson. The school aims to achieve academic excellence for all pupils while developing independence and valuing learning beyond the classroom.
Entry to Skinners’ School is through the Kent PESE (11+) test for 2026 entry. The official pass mark for September 2026 is 332, with no individual score below 108. Admissions are allocated by area: West Kent Area provides 124 places, with priority given to pupils in receipt of Pupil Premium (up to 16 places, ranked by score), followed by siblings of current pupils (minimum score 372), then sons of staff (minimum score 372), and otherwise by distance from the school. West Kent Area Governors’ Places number 16. Outer Area provides 20 places with prioritisation for siblings, sons of staff, and pupils with a minimum score of 372, ranked by straight-line distance.
