St Catherine’s is a Catholic primary school where RE is central to learning. Mass is celebrated across the year by the school priest; Sacramental assemblies (Eucharist, Baptism, Reconciliation) are held for both Key Stages; prayer and liturgy happen daily in classrooms with planned annual liturgical provision; the school serves a religiously diverse community and includes opportunities for parish involvement and Catholic life as part of daily practice. The Mission statements emphasise equality, kindness, humility, and using talents for the good of others within a Catholic context.

Headteacher Mrs Tricia Redfern welcomes families to St Catherine’s and invites open communication. Curriculum Highlights

Foundation Stage (FS1 and FS2) nursery – foundation stage with consistent teaching, hands-on learning and a child-centred curriculum; focus on independence, curiosity and social development. Primary Curriculum (KS1 and KS2) is knowledge rich and aligned to the National Curriculum, covering English, Mathematics, Science and foundation subjects including Computing, History, Geography, Art and Design, Design Technology, Music, Physical Education, Languages (Spanish), Citizenship (PSHE/RSHE) and Religious Education. Curriculum planning uses a mastery model for foundation subjects, with knowledge developed through termly projects initiated by philosophical enquiry questions; RE remains central with units from ‘Come and See’. Projects are knowledge-rich, aspirational and contextualised, leading to authentic outcomes; learning involves visits, residential trips and real-world learning experiences; emphasis on reading, writing, speaking and listening and critical thinking. Curriculum extends beyond the classroom with opportunities to visit places of worship, experience a residential, learn a musical instrument, swim, perform acts of community service, explore the local environment and engage in drama and live music; learners are encouraged to participate in democracy and first aid activities.

Wraparound Care

Breakfast Club: Yes After-School Care: Yes

Breakfast Club runs from 8:00am (booking via ParentPay; late arrivals incur a Late Charge). After School Club is available daily and must be booked by 1:00pm for a 4:00pm or 4:30pm finish. Children take part in enrichment activities such as Books and Board Games, Art and Craft, Environment and Gardening, and Lego. Cricket is available as a separate club for Key Stage 2 in October. Wraparound care aims to meet the 8:00am–6:00pm provision via an arrangement with Just for Kids.
