Curriculum Highlights

Early Reading and Early Mathematics are the foundations for our curriculum; Read, Write, Inc is used to support literacy. We follow the GLF maths curriculum to support mastery in mathematics and ensure pupils access and master number concepts. Vocabulary and oracy are emphasised; pupils are taught the etymology of words to build knowledge. Subjects are taught as discrete areas with retrieval and application of knowledge. An ambitious Wider Curriculum that encourages making links across learning and strong communication through partner talk and deliberate vocabulary teaching. Personal development focuses on rights (UN Convention on the Rights of the Child) and developing the whole child through trips, visits and experiences. Pedagogy emphasises deep learning and mastery and recognises the link between learning, relationships and wellbeing.
